Positive/Negative Space Homework Project Due Friday 11.9
Suggested Homework Pacing: (work for at least 20 minutes a night) Remember that you can use felt tip pen, ballpoint, or rollerball pen on the positive space side if you wish to do so. Otherwise, graphite is fine.
10.23: Select object(s), gather references (print or save onto computer), make composition thumbnails in sketchbook
10.24: Label cardstock (final Paper) on back with name, period, grade level. Measure halfway line with ruler. Begin Prelim of positive space side.
10.25: Extend image into negative space side. Work on that preliminary drawing.
10.26-10.28: Outline the negative spaces on the negative space side and erase interior lines.
10.29: Begin shading and mark-making in positive space side
10.30: Color Sharpie neatly in negative space side
10.31: Finish sharpie in negative space side. Continue mark-making in positive space side.
11.1: Add contour lines and details to positive space side
11.2-11.4: Add detailed contour edges to negative space side (make sure it is as specific as possible.)
11.5: Add value contrast overall
11.6: FINISH! Clean up smudges/stray marks, add subtle details, contour lines, etc.
11.9: Project Due! Evaluate and tape rubric to the back of project to turn in.
Either Print or save to your laptop a series of images needed for your Linocut project. Can be black and white or color. Multiple images needed for options for each part of your final drawing/print. Be thorough in gathering reference materials and bring to class on Monday!
